Birthdays

June is Birthday Month around the Buckner's Home!!!

First there is Troy on the 9th. He turned 15...whoa...is that right? Lets see, he was born in 1995...yes, I do believe that is right! The first item out of the bag...gum..yes, gum..he is related to Hannah! That would be there compulsive personalities!
Next, was an "New Egg" box...for those of you that don't know what New Egg is...it is a computer component catalog.online store. I think Troy is there most frequent peruser...he seems to have everything memorized. We ordered him a DVD burner for his computer...I guess??The Birthday Girls! We went out to eat at the Rio Grand on the 10th for Grandma & my birthday. Steve posing with the 'birthday girls' The whole group....The 'Birthday Girls' again....Grandma was celebrating her 85th birthday
Troy and Trent Trent
Tyler and Alisha
We then went out to Dad & Linda for dessert.
Here is the Birthday Trio before we blew out the candles on our chocolate cake. The Trio again..I think???? (Tyler was in charge of taking pictures and he felt the need to take them from a aerial view!??)Grandma and her Lemon Meringue Pie. Linda always makes her a special pie for her birthday. She is so sweet!

Taking a Pontoon boat ride. Dad as Captain. We also played a game of Prediction. Good Times!

EVERYONE LOVES A PARTY!!

Recently, our beloved neighbor, Bob Brott turned 85!

A couple of months ago, Bob was telling me about how his birthday was coming in June.
The wheels started turning, as I was cleaning for him.

My thought...a neighborhood birthday party...yes, that's it, a party!

We gathered on his front lawn on Monday night to celebrate with him! It was so fun to see an 85 year old's excitement!
Some brought plates, some silverware, some drinks, cake, ice cream....

We all pitched in...and he really enjoyed himself!

The kids on his porch..Katie, Landon, Jack & Trent

We are very fortunate to have wonderful neighbors. Bob has been a great neighbor to us. He & Lola moved in the year before Tyler was born. Lola passed away 2 years ago this December.
We even planned a block party for this summer while we were there! How fun will that be!
He told me the next day, he had not had a birthday party thrown for him, since he was a kid!

68...WOW!.....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAD!!!
Your the best-est Dad I could have asked for! It just so happened that Dad's birthday fell on the same day as our Annual Church Family Picnic and Baptismal. We had a beautiful day....sunny.....no rain....abit of a breeze. The sunshine danced like diamonds on the water! (I got that from my Mom.....she was talking to Tyler when he was around 3 and relayed that to him, as they looked out over the lake!)

From the title, you guessed it, Dad turned 68 this year....when he said those words, it struck me how close he was to 70!!!! He ordinarily doesn't have that many kids gathered around him at his birthday parties! Dad & Linda brought cake to feed 200 and 5 pails of ice cream...I guess that will bring a crowd of kids!

Linda was the cake server........Chocolate or White??? This is a picture of the crowd that sat under the pavilion
After the potluck some of the kids played a little football
Then we gathered at the shores of Crockery Lake to have the Baptismal Service. I'm not quite sure how many were Baptised...around 10? Seven or eight more joined by transfer of membership. It was a great time of hearing the work God has done in their lives.

Olga even made a lot of us cry! She is originally from Russia and through a lot of circumstances ended up in GR. There she met and married a guy, which happen to be the brother of one of our members. Through some very rough times she came to realize she needed a saviour and needed to make some dramatic changes in her life.....which she did.....asking Jesus to come in her life and be Lord. What got most of us choked us, is when she started to cry, when she was telling about the moment she realized how much God really loved her!! What a story she has...she lived in a convent for 9 years too!

There were kids that were also baptized...two other couples....a couple teens.....a wide range of believers. You never get tired of hearing their story of how they came to this point in their life.

Here is a snapshot of the crowd that gathered! Okay, this question requires a little commenting.......Do you enjoy potlucks or do you not care for them? I personally don't mind them but I have come to realize that there are quite a few people that have a phobia about eating other peoples food, in an outdoor setting.....what about you.......let me know what you think....I'm curious?????

The Fun Never Stops!!......

These are random pictures of "Birthday week". Sorry, to those of you that read by way of dial-up. We had a fun time at Craig's Cruisers playing Putt-putt golf, Go carts and video games. At one point we lost Steve, Tyler & Troy, we found them zip'n around on the go-cart track. And no gathering would be complete without some card playing. Troy trying out one of his gifts.......
Julie getting ready to lead off.......(notice the fascination with MD)
Troy turning ThirTEEN!! There will be two in the house now.....they're taking over!)
Putt-Putt Golf at Craig's Cruisers (needless to say I didn't get low score..I blamed it on my hair always getting in my face) Shouldn't they let the b-day girl win!?!
Julie and Dad
The Birthday trio (during our first celebration!)
Dad finishing up his Go cart run.....
Steve behind Tyler, trying to pass on the inside......
We had a blast sharing good old-fashion family fun time! We stopped at Wendy's on the way home for dinner and then back to the house for cake and ice cream. Grandma Elsie and Neil & Bonnie met us there for the celebration. Until next year.......
